Jersey Design in Qatar: Custom Sports Kits for Teams, Events, and Corporate Groups

Custom jersey design in Qatar for football, cricket, padel, and corporate teams. What to brief, what to budget, and what separates a good kit from a bad one.

Qatar has one of the most active amateur and corporate sports scenes in the Gulf. Football leagues, corporate tournaments, padel events, cricket competitions — they all produce demand for custom jersey design. And the range in quality between a well-designed kit and a poorly executed one is dramatic enough to matter to the people wearing them.

What Makes a Jersey Design Work

A sports jersey operates differently from almost any other designed object. It moves. It's seen from thirty metres away as well as up close. It needs to read as a coherent identity when ten players are on a pitch together. It has to work with the specific colour and contrast requirements of the sport's broadcast and referee rules. And it needs to print or sublimate well on the actual fabric material being used.

The mistakes that show up in amateur jersey design consistently follow the same patterns: too many colours fighting for dominance, logos placed without understanding how they'll sit on fabric when the garment is worn and moving, gradients that look impressive on screen but lose their impact on fabric, and typography choices that are illegible at speed. Professional jersey design avoids all of these by starting with the physical constraints rather than the screen.

Jersey Types Common in Qatar

Football is the dominant demand driver — both Arabic-named local league teams and corporate social leagues that play at the many pitches around Doha and Lusail. Padel has grown rapidly and generates its own kit demand. Cricket is a significant market given Qatar's large South Asian expat community (more on that in a separate post). Corporate group jerseys for events — team-building days, national day events, corporate runs — are their own category where the brief is often about brand visibility and unity rather than performance.

The Sublimation vs Screen Print Question

Most modern custom jerseys in Qatar are sublimation printed — the design is dyed into the fabric rather than printed on top of it. This produces more durable, vibrant results with no feel on the fabric and no cracking after washing. Screen printing is appropriate for very simple designs at higher quantities. If your manufacturer is still quoting screen printing for a complex multi-colour design, ask specifically about sublimation.

Design files for sublimation require specific formatting: high resolution, correctly sized for the garment template, with all elements accounted for in the 3D wrap of the fabric. This is a technical requirement your designer should understand before they start.
